It includes various tales woven about the Scout Laws.
Other tales include stories about "Travel abroad", "Camping in Norway",
"Foreign Scouts," "Trip to Algeria" (including sections on Malta & Sicily),
"Sea Scouting," and "How to Be a Backwoodsman"
Sir Robert Baden Powell wrote this book in the early years
of the scouting movement. His role as story teller was just one
of the very effective methods he used to help boys develop into good citizens.

Baden Powell is generally credited with
the illustrations in his books as well as the text.
A letter in the UK Scout Archive written by B.P., dated February 12th, 1916 says

"I am very disappointed in Ford's Drawing for 'The Young Knights' cover.
I am redrawing it myself."

But we cannot be sure whether the picture
you see on the book cover is Ford's or Baden-Powell's as there is some
confusion caused by initials, presumably those of the artist's, of H (or N) J in
the bottom right-hand corner of the cover.

This book was written almost a century ago and it is interesting to see
some different attitudes between then and now. The most notable difference
is seen in the attitude to the swastika which was for 3,000 years, the symbol of life
& good luck and was used by Baden Powell as a scouting symbol.

But because of the Nazis, the swastika has since taken on a meaning of death and hate
and is no longer used by Scouts.

It must have saddened Baden Powell that the symbol of goodness
had become so corrupted by such evil people.

The book comprises 167 pages including illustrations by Baden Powell.
